Original state
Based on internal analysis and audit, WOCO STV found out that it needed to create a unified, clear and long-term conceptual printing solution for the administrative, logistical and production part of the company. Until then, various kinds and types of printers from different manufacturers were used in the company. This condition was unsatisfactory not only due to the financial demands on operation, but also in terms of disproportionate demands on storage space for supplies.
Intent
The main intention of the replacement was to reduce printing costs and reduce the number and types of printing devices. Initially, more than 40 different models from a dozen manufacturers were in place. It was also desirable to unify supplies and optimize their inventory. Emphasis was placed on the deployment of inkjet devices, reducing supplies inventory, uninterrupted operation and reducing costs for the operation and maintenance of the print fleet.
Implementation
The tender for a supplier that would set a unified concept of corporate printing policy was won by XANADU with a proposal for a solution using inkjet printers with HP PageWide technology. As a result, a managed print service contract was signed where HP PageWide inkjet technology covers 91% of the overall solution. An important requirement, in addition to inkjet technology, was the compatibility of the new solution with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), which HP met. The replacement of printers, i.e. the removal of old equipment and the installation of new solutions, took place quickly and according to a pre-agreed schedule (from May to August 2016).
State of play
Running costs have been reduced with HP PageWide technology, while the number of printer models from different manufacturers has been significantly reduced to just four HP models. Uniformity has simplified operation with the print driver for all users. Thanks to XANADU partner services, in the event of a malfunction, a faulty device is immediately replaced with a functional one, all MFPs are set up from a central location, and IT staff can monitor and remotely control the entire printing environment.
