Outsourcing of IT services at Vistoria
The company was forced to replace the outgoing IT support, a tender was announced, from which our company won with its proposal for IT support solutions. The main objectives were the renewal of outdated infrastructure, assistance with the deployment of economic software and setting up standard IT management of the environment.
Original state
The administration at Vistoria was handled by a small IT company with one technician who took care of everything. No SLA was set, no helpdesk system, each user communicated directly with a technician who was not always available. The server infrastructure and IT technology was very outdated, the administrator did not have time to solve common problems or develop the IT environment. Old servers with unsupported OS (Windows Server 2003) were used, hardware without warranty was deployed, which was very outdated and inefficient. Desktop operating systems (Windows 7) were also used as server systems. Problems were accumulating and the original administrator did not manage the administration and preferred to terminate the services provided.
Intent
The company was forced to replace the outgoing IT support, a tender was announced, from which our company won with its proposal for IT support solutions. After signing the XANADU contract, it took over the IT environment for its management. The main objectives were the renewal of outdated infrastructure, assistance with the deployment of economic software and setting up standard IT management of the environment.
Implementation
We took over the management of the company’s IT environment at the end of 2017 and immediately started to solve the company’s acute problems and communicate with the company’s management. The entire server infrastructure was very outdated – except for support and warranties or made up of inappropriate elements, basically unusable for further cause. A solution proposal for a complete renewal of the server infrastructure including licenses, backup, security firewall, complete modification of the server room with a new rack including accessories, new Wi-Fi and the entire network infrastructure was prepared.
After two months (in February 2018), the new servers and other elements were delivered, installed and put into production, followed by the deployment of economical software in cooperation with the supplier. As part of management, we began to rotate and standardize all compute resources, which led to a reduction in IT management costs and an acceleration of SLAs.
State of play
Currently, the company uses a new server, where we run a total of 8 virtual servers on the VMware platform, the security of the entire company consists of a high-quality firewall, backup takes place to external network drives. The whole server room is modified, air-conditioned and secured. We manage about 80 end stations in several locations, each user has a helpdesk system and a hotline for solving problems with IT technology. Major business applications and systems work seamlessly on new infrastructure, Wi-Fi and network infrastructure are unified and secured. During the administration of the environment, other changes were made, such as a new structure of company documents, access security, setting approval processes for authorization, acquisition of new IT equipment, etc.
Benefits for the company
A key benefit for the company is the generational renewal of the old server infrastructure, which was no longer sufficient for the needs and demands of new applications. Furthermore, the standardization of IT technology was set up, IT processes of approval, reporting and control were set. Users have received available technical support to solve their problems and requirements.
